Size Guide
How We Measure Our Fur Coats
TOKONAME FUR HOUSE measures each vintage fur coat individually. Because vintage fur coats vary by brand, era, design, and silhouette, we recommend checking the actual measurements rather than relying only on the size label.
All measurements are taken while the garment is laid flat and are listed in both centimeters and inches.
Our Size Standard
Our estimated size is mainly based on the Approximate Bust measurement with the front hooks closed.
| Approximate Bust | Estimated Size |
|---|---|
| 88 cm / 35 in or less | XS |
| 89–96 cm / 35–38 in | S |
| 97–104 cm / 38–41 in | M |
| 105–112 cm / 41–44 in | L |
| 113–120 cm / 44–47 in | XL |
| 121 cm / 48 in or more | XXL |
Please note that this size guide is only an estimate. The actual fit may vary depending on the coat’s cut, shoulder width, sleeve shape, fur volume, and lining thickness.
Measurement Terms
Here is what each measurement term used on our product pages means.
| Measurement Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Approximate bust | The approximate bust measurement when the front hooks are closed. |
| Coat length | The length of the coat measured from the shoulder area down to the hem. |
| Coat length from HPS | The total length measured from the high point of shoulder to the hem. |
| Shoulder to shoulder | The straight measurement from one shoulder seam to the other. |
| Sleeve length from shoulder | The sleeve length measured from the shoulder seam to the cuff. |
| Sleeve length (CB) | Sleeve length measured from the center back, used mainly for raglan sleeves or coats without a clear shoulder seam. |
| Sweep | The circumference around the hem. |
Why Fur Coats Need Extra Room
Fur coats are thicker than ordinary coats. Even if the bust measurement looks large, the inner fit may feel smaller because of the fur thickness and lining.
For a comfortable fit, we recommend comparing the listed measurements with a coat you already own and like. If you plan to wear thick sweaters underneath, please allow extra room.
How to Compare Measurements
- Take a coat you already own that fits you well.
- Lay it flat.
- Measure the bust, shoulder width, sleeve length, and coat length.
- Compare those measurements with the product page.
- Choose the item closest to your preferred fit.
About Vintage Size Labels
Some vintage coats may have an original size label, but vintage sizing can differ from modern sizing. For this reason, we provide our own estimated size based on the actual measurements.
Important Notes
- Measurements are approximate.
- A difference of 1–2 cm may occur depending on how the garment is measured.
- Fur volume, shoulder pads, and sleeve shape can affect the fit.
- If a coat has raglan sleeves, shoulder width or sleeve length from shoulder may not be listed.
- If a measurement is not applicable to the item, it may be omitted from the product page.
